This 7-day Kenya safari takes you through three of the country’s most iconic destinations. From the wildlife-rich plains of Maasai Mara to the flamingo-filled Lake Nakuru and the stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro in Amboseli, this journey offers a complete and well-balanced safari experience. Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be met by your guide and transferred to your hotel in Nairobi. This first day is kept simple to allow you to rest after your journey and prepare for the safari ahead. Depending on your arrival time, you may choose to relax at the hotel or explore Nairobi with optional visits such as the Giraffe Centre or local markets. In the evening, your guide will brief you about the safari, ensuring everything is clear and comfortable before you begin the adventure.
After breakfast, you begin your journey to the Maasai Mara, driving through the scenic Great Rift Valley with beautiful viewpoints along the way. The drive itself is part of the experience, as the landscape changes from city to open countryside and finally to the wide plains of the Mara. Upon arrival, you enjoy lunch at your lodge or camp before heading out for your first game drive. This is your introduction to one of Africa’s most famous wildlife areas, where you may already start spotting lions, elephants, and other wildlife as the sun begins to set.
Today is dedicated to exploring the Maasai Mara in depth. After an early breakfast, you head out for a full day game drive across the vast plains. The Mara is one of the best places in Africa to see predators, and you have a strong chance of spotting lions, cheetahs, and possibly leopards. Large herds of wildebeest, zebras, and other herbivores are commonly seen, creating a dynamic wildlife environment. If traveling during the migration season, you may witness dramatic river crossings, although these are not guaranteed as they depend on natural movement. The open landscape allows for easy wildlife viewing and photography. You will enjoy a picnic lunch inside the reserve, allowing you to spend more time in the wild without returning to the lodge. The day is flexible, and your guide adjusts the route based on animal movements to give you the best experience.
After a relaxed breakfast, you enjoy a final morning game drive in Maasai Mara, taking in the last moments of this incredible reserve. Later, you begin your journey toward Lake Nakuru, driving through the scenic Great Rift Valley. The drive offers changing landscapes, from open plains to rolling hills and viewpoints overlooking the valley. Along the way, you may stop for photos and short breaks, making the journey enjoyable rather than tiring. By the afternoon, you arrive in the Lake Nakuru area and check into your lodge. This transition day allows you to experience both the Mara and the Rift Valley, adding depth to your safari.
Today you travel from Lake Nakuru to Amboseli National Park, a longer but rewarding journey as the scenery changes along the way. Amboseli is located near the border with Tanzania and is famous for its open plains and views of Mount Kilimanjaro. Upon arrival, you settle into your lodge and, depending on time, enjoy a short game drive. The atmosphere here is different from the Mara, with wide open spaces and a unique sense of calm.
You spend the full day exploring Amboseli National Park, known for its large elephant herds and iconic views of Mount Kilimanjaro. Early-morning and late-afternoon game drives offer the best chances to see animals when they are most active, and the mountain is more visible. You may see elephants walking across the plains with the mountain in the background, as well as lions, cheetahs, buffalo, and various bird species. The open landscape makes wildlife viewing easy and enjoyable, and the overall experience feels both peaceful and impressive.
After breakfast, you begin your journey back to Nairobi. The drive is relaxed, giving you time to reflect on the experiences of the past days. Upon arrival, you are transferred to the airport for your departure or to your hotel if you have additional plans. This marks the end of your safari, leaving you with unforgettable memories of Kenya’s wildlife and landscapes.

The drive takes about 5 to 6 hours with scenic stops along the Great Rift Valley. The vehicle is comfortable with enough space and a pop-up roof for viewing. It’s part of the experience, not just a transfer.
You will have an afternoon game drive on arrival and a full day of safari the next day. This allows you to explore different areas and increase your chances of wildlife sightings. Your guide adjusts the plan based on animal movement.
The migration usually happens between July and October, but it depends on natural conditions. River crossings are not guaranteed, as animals move freely. Even outside this season, the Maasai Mara offers excellent wildlife viewing.
Lake Nakuru is smaller and easier to explore, making sightings more frequent in a short time. It is especially known for rhinos and birdlife like flamingos. It adds variety to your safari experience.
This safari can be done all year round, with each season offering a slightly different experience. The dry season from June to October is ideal for wildlife viewing as animals gather around water sources, and it is also the time of the Great Migration in Maasai Mara. The green season offers beautiful landscapes, fewer crowds, and excellent photography opportunities. No matter when you travel, the experience remains rewarding.
