Arrival in Arusha
Welcome to Tanzania! A Colours Africa Tour and Safari representative will pick you up from the airport and drive you to your accommodation in Arusha. Depending on your arrival time, you will have time to relax and prepare for the adventure of a lifetime!
After breakfast, your Colours Africa & Safari guide will collect you from your accommodation and drive you to Tarangire National Park, a journey of approximately two and a half hours on well-maintained tarmac roads. Named after the Tarangire River—
the park’s main water source during the dry season—Tarangire is renowned for its large elephant families, abundant birdlife, and iconic baobab trees. You may also see giraffes, bushbuck, hartebeest, and predators such as lions and leopards. Lunch will be enjoyed at a picnic site inside the park before continuing to your accommodation in Karatu.
After breakfast, drive through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, stopping to admire the Ngorongoro Crater, before entering Serengeti National Park from the south. Explore the vast plains, famous for abundant wildlife and the Great Migration. Enjoy a picnic lunch and overnight at mid range accommodation in Central Serengeti.
Then day 2 in Serengeti National Park Spend the day on game drives in the Serengeti, spotting a wide range of wildlife including plains game, hippos, crocodiles, and predators such as lions, cheetahs, and leopards. Choose between morning and afternoon drives with a camp break or a full-day safari with a picnic lunch.
After breakfast, you will travel to the Ngorongoro Crater, enjoying scenic views along the way. You will spend the afternoon exploring the crater floor before continuing to your accommodation in Karatu.
Ngorongoro Crater is a remarkable natural sanctuary formed when a massive volcano collapsed millions of years ago. Its enclosed ecosystem features open savannah, acacia woodlands, lakes, and swamps, supporting large populations of wildebeest, zebra, gazelle, and over 500 bird species. The crater also offers one of the best opportunities to see the endangered black rhino in its natural habitat.
This morning, you will drive to Lake Manyara National Park, the final stop on your safari. Though compact, the park is remarkably diverse, set beneath the dramatic Great Rift Escarpment and centered around a shallow seasonal salt lake. Lake Manyara is famous for its rich birdlife, including flamingos, as well as its evergreen forests, large baboon troops, elephants, and the well-known tree-climbing lions.
