7-Day Tanzania Classic Safari – Serengeti , Ngorongoro & Tarangire.

Upon arrival at either Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your professional safari guide from Colours Africa Tours & Safaris. After a brief introduction, you will be transferred to your hotel in Arusha, the gateway to Tanzania’s famous northern safari circuit.

Depending on your arrival airport, the transfer to Arusha takes approximately 45–60 minutes from Kilimanjaro International Airport or about 15–20 minutes from Arusha Airport. Along the way, you may enjoy views of the surrounding landscapes and, on clear days, the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro or Mount Meru.

Upon arrival at the hotel, check in and take time to relax after your journey. Later, your guide will provide a short safari briefing, explaining the itinerary and preparing you for the exciting wildlife adventure that begins the following day. Enjoy dinner and a comfortable overnight stay in Arusha.

After breakfast, depart Arusha for Tarangire National Park, located approximately 2–3 hours away. The drive takes you through scenic Tanzanian countryside, passing small villages, farms, and open savannah landscapes.

Tarangire National Park is famous for its large elephant herds and ancient baobab trees, some of which are hundreds of years old. The park’s lifeline, the Tarangire River, attracts large numbers of animals, especially during the dry season.

Your first exciting game drive begins upon entering the park. Wildlife sightings may include elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, buffaloes, and several antelope species. The park is also home to over 500 bird species, making it one of the best birdwatching destinations in Tanzania.

After an incredible day of wildlife viewing, you will head to your lodge or tented camp for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast, continue your journey toward the world-famous Serengeti National Park. The drive takes you through the beautiful landscapes of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, offering stunning views of the highlands and surrounding plains.

As you enter the Serengeti, the scenery transforms into the park’s legendary endless savannah, which gave the park its name from the Maasai word Siringet, meaning “endless plains.”

Your game drive begins immediately, offering chances to see a wide variety of wildlife including lions, cheetahs, leopards, elephants, giraffes, zebras, and buffaloes.

The Serengeti is also home to the incredible Great Migration, where millions of wildebeest and zebras travel across the plains in search of fresh grazing.

Today you will enjoy a full day safari in Serengeti, one of the most wildlife-rich areas on the planet. Early morning and late afternoon are the best times to spot predators as they are most active during the cooler hours of the day.

Your guide will take you to the best areas for wildlife viewing depending on animal movements. During the day you may encounter lion prides resting under acacia trees, cheetahs scanning the plains for prey, or elephants moving gracefully across the savannah.

The Serengeti landscape is incredibly diverse, featuring open plains, rocky kopjes, river systems, and scattered acacia trees, providing habitat for countless wildlife species.

Enjoy a picnic lunch in the bush surrounded by nature before continuing your afternoon game drive. Return to your lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight.

After an early breakfast at your lodge or camp in the Serengeti, you will set out for a morning game drive, one of the best times of the day to witness wildlife activity. Predators such as lions, cheetahs, and leopards are often active during the cool morning hours, while herds of zebras, wildebeests, gazelles, and giraffes graze across the endless plains.

Following the morning safari, you will begin your scenic journey toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, continuing to enjoy wildlife sightings along the route. The drive takes you through the beautiful landscapes of the Serengeti before gradually ascending into the lush Ngorongoro Highlands, where the scenery changes dramatically from open savannah to rolling hills, forests, and panoramic viewpoints.

Along the way, you may stop at a viewpoint overlooking the vast Serengeti plains, offering incredible photo opportunities and a final chance to appreciate the endless landscapes that make this park world famous.

By late afternoon, you will arrive at your lodge near the Ngorongoro Crater rim, where cooler temperatures and stunning scenery await. From this elevated location, you may enjoy spectacular views of the surrounding highlands and forests. Spend the evening relaxing at the lodge, enjoying dinner and preparing for the exciting Ngorongoro Crater safari the following day.

Today you will descend approximately 600 meters into the Ngorongoro Crater, one of Africa’s most remarkable natural wonders and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The crater is often described as Africa’s “Garden of Eden” because it hosts one of the highest concentrations of wildlife on the continent.

During your game drive, you may encounter lions, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeests, spotted hyenas, hippos, and the rare black rhino, making it one of the best places in Tanzania to spot the Big Five.

The crater floor features diverse ecosystems, including grasslands, forests, swamps, and the soda lake known as Lake Magadi, where flamingos are often seen.

After a spectacular day of wildlife viewing, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast at your hotel in Arusha, you will enjoy a short town tour of Arusha, a vibrant city located at the foot of Mount Meru and known as the gateway to Tanzania’s famous northern safari circuit. During the tour, you will have the opportunity to explore parts of the city, visit local markets, cultural shops, or enjoy a brief walk through the lively streets to experience everyday local life.

Depending on your departure time, you may also stop at a local craft market or souvenir shop, where you can find beautiful handmade Tanzanian crafts and gifts to take home.

After the town tour, your guide will transfer you to either Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport for your onward flight.
