Kenya National Parks and Reserves

Kenya’s national parks and reserves in 2026 are categorized into premier wildlife destinations, marine conservation areas, and specialized highland or volcanic parks. The Kenya Wildlife Service manages 23 national parks, 28 national reserves, and 4 national sanctuaries, which together protect a significant portion of the country’s diverse landmass.

The Maasai Mara National Reserve remains the most popular safari destination, celebrated for the Great Migration between July and October and its high density of big cats. Amboseli National Park is internationally famous for its large elephant herds framed by the backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro.
