Day 1 – Arrival in Kampala / Entebbe

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your driver-guide from Colours Africa Tours & Safaris.

You will then be transferred to your hotel in Kampala, where you can relax after your journey. Depending on your arrival time, you may enjoy a short city orientation or simply unwind at the hotel.

Day 2 – Kampala to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After an early breakfast, depart from Kampala (or Entebbe) and begin your scenic drive to Bwindi, located in southwestern Uganda.

The journey offers breathtaking views as the landscape transforms from flat plains to rolling hills and lush countryside. You will stop for lunch in Mbarara and continue toward Bwindi, arriving in the late afternoon.

Check in at your lodge, relax, and enjoy the natural surroundings of the forest. Dinner and overnight at your lodge near Bwindi.

Day 3 – Gorilla Trekking

Today is the long-awaited highlight of your safari gorilla trekking in Bwindi

After an early breakfast, you will be transferred to the park headquarters for a briefing by experienced rangers on gorilla trekking guidelines and safety.

You will then begin your trek into the dense rainforest in search of a habituated gorilla family. The trek can take 2 to 6 hours, depending on the location of the gorillas, and may involve walking through thick vegetation, muddy trails, and hilly terrain.

Once the gorillas are located, you will spend one unforgettable hour observing them in their natural habitat — watching them feed, interact, and care for their young. This close encounter is one of the most powerful wildlife experiences in Africa.

After the trek, return to your lodge for relaxation and lunch.

In the afternoon, you may choose to visit the local Batwa community for a cultural experience or simply relax at the lodge while enjoying the forest surroundings.

Day 4 – Transfer to Kibale National Park

After breakfast at your lodge near Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, you will begin your scenic journey to Kibale Forest National Park,

The route takes you through the beautiful landscapes of western Uganda, passing rolling hills, tea plantations, rural villages, and crater lakes, with opportunities to stop for photos along the way. As you travel, you will notice the changing scenery from dense rainforest to open countryside and lush greenery.

You will arrive in Kibale in the late afternoon and proceed to your lodge for check-in.

Depending on your arrival time, you may choose to relax or enjoy an optional nature walk, where you might spot birds and smaller primates.

Day 5 – Chimpanzee Tracking & Departure

After an early breakfast, you will head to Kibale National Park headquarters for a briefing before starting your chimpanzee tracking experience.

Accompanied by experienced guides, you will walk into the forest in search of chimpanzees. As you move through the lush vegetation, you may also encounter other primates such as colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, baboons, and mangabeys, along with a rich variety of birdlife.

Once the chimpanzees are located, you will spend time observing their lively behavior — watching them jump between trees, communicate, feed, and interact. This experience is both exciting and very different from gorilla trekking due to the chimpanzees’ energetic nature.

After the trek, return to your lodge for lunch and some relaxation before beginning your journey back to Kampala or Entebbe.

Enjoy a scenic drive of approximately 5–6 hours, passing tea plantations, local villages, and countryside landscapes.

Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel or directly to the airport for your departure flight, marking the end of your unforgettable Uganda primate safari.
