Marangu gate
Day 1: Arusha - Marangu Gate - Mandara Hut

Marangu Gate: 1,800m (5,905 ft) to Mandara Hut, 2,743m (9,000 ft)
Elevation gain: 915m (3,000 ft)

Leave Arusha at 8 am and proceed to Marangu Gate. The drive to Marangu takes about 4 hours, and you will meet our guides, cooks and porters when arriving at the gate. After completing gate registration, begin your Kilimanjaro trek.

Walk along a narrow trail through the Kilimanjaro rainforest for most of the hike. Eat a picnic lunch at Kisambioni, day one's halfway point. After lunch, continue walking through the rainforest until reaching Mandara Hut.

Relax for the rest of the day or take a short walk to Maundi Crater. The views to the east over Taveta and to the northwest of Mawenzi Peak are stunning on a clear day, making the short hike well worth the effort.

Day 2 - 4: Hike Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut & Back Arusha

You leave the glades of the rainforest and follow an ascending path on the open moorlands toward Horombo Hut. The views of Mawenzi and the summit of Kibo are amazing. Look for giant lobelias and groundsels. After lunch at Mandara, hike back to the park gate and drive back to Arusha (about 3 hours).

- Elevation: 2,720m to somewhere lower than 3,720m
- Hiking distance: About 5km up and 12km down via Mandara Huts to Marangu Gate
- Hiking time: 3 – 4 hours up, and 5 – 6 hours down via Mandara Huts to Marangu Gate
- Habitat: Heathland, moorland and montane forest.

Day 3: Visit Authentic Maasai Village

After breakfast at around 7:30 am, we will pick you up from your lodge. Afterward, you will go on a tour of approximately two and a half hours to a Maasai village where you visit a group of pleasant Maasai. The village chief welcomes you with a chilled welcome drink and the traditional song and dance of the Maasai woman.

During a walk through the village, your personal Maasai guide will explain the past and today’s life of the Tanzania Maasai. Get more information about the culture of the Maasai while tasting a traditional tea prepared on the wood fire. A tasty lunch with a variety of local food highlights will end the activities in the village. The afternoon starts with an exciting and very educational walking safari across the nearby bush.

Maasai warriors will guide you along their paths and explain typical medicinal plants, extraordinary trees, tracks, and the local wildlife. Later, return to Arusha Tourist Inn Hotel where you will have your local dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Maasai Village

As the Maasai village has endless activities, you will wake up early in the morning. Spend the whole day participating in different activities during the day including milking the cattle, grassing the cattle, moulding Maasai huts (manyatta) with cow dung, learning how to make handicrafts (cultural beads and necklaces), as well as fresh blood-suckling from cattle.

Later in the evening, you will have plenty of time for controversial topics (e.g female genital mutilation and Maasai men circumcision).

In the late afternoon, you will say goodbye to your new Maasai friends who will perform traditional Maasai dances. Your driver will bring you back to your lodge/hotel.

TARANGIRE NP
Day 5: Tarangire National Park

Leave the lodge or camp at 8:00 am and drive for about 90 minutes to Tarangire National Park. This park is often referred to as the "Home of Elephants.” Here, you will have the chance to spot elephants in large groups gathering around the Tarangire River. Other animals to be spotted include leopards, lions, giraffes, and even tree-climbing pythons!

Tarangire National Park's main attractions:

- Land of giants (herds of giant elephants & massive baobab trees)
- Over 550 different bird species (migratory & permanent)
- Abundant biodiversity
- The Tarangire River.

You will have your lunch at around 2:00 pm inside Tarangire National Park. Later, you will continue with the game drive until around 5:30 when you will exit the park and proceed to your accommodation for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Tarangire to Serengeti National Park

Have an early breakfast at 6.00 am and then depart on a game drive en route to Serengeti National Park. Serengeti is the largest and most famous park in Tanzania, known worldwide for its endless plains, the wildebeest migration, herds of lions and other predators like hyenas, cheetahs, and leopards. Crocodiles can be found in the Grumeti River, as well as hippos, giraffes, antelopes and gazelle. Your dinner and overnight will be in the heart of the Serengeti.

Serengeti National Park's main attractions:

Day 7: Serengeti National Park

Today, you will head out early for your morning game drive for a chance to witness a magnificent African sunrise in the bush. Head out after a cup of coffee and experience the wilderness and its magnificent creatures as they wake up among the dew-covered grasses.

Later, you will head back to camp for breakfast and some relaxation. In the afternoon, you will again head out for another chance to explore the plains in search of the African wildlife you have come to see as you exit the park. Make your way to your accommodation in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

Main attractions of an early morning game drive:

- Animals are more active than in the afternoon
- The best chance of experiencing predators on a hunt

Day 8 - 10: Ngorongoro Crater

After an early breakfast, you will have a half-day game drive in Serengeti National Park before driving to the Ngorongoro Crater. There is a very high possibility of spotting the Big Five (lion, rhino, elephant, buffalo, and leopard) in one day. Ngorongoro Crater is a World Heritage Site and brings wild animals and human beings together like no other place on earth.

Ngorongoro Crater's main attractions:

- Visit the largest unbroken volcanic caldera on earth
- Home to Africa's Big Five
- Witness Maasai tribesmen living among wild animals
- Exceptional natural landscapes.

You will be doing your game drive inside the Ngorongoro Crater with a maximum of 6 hours according to the park authority. You will then exit the park, heading back to Mto wa Mbu for dinner and overnight at Fig Tree Lodge.

Day 9: Lake Manyara National Park

After breakfast, you will be driven to Lake Manyara National Park. Famous for its green scenery, Lake Manyara has varied birdlife, tree-climbing lions, hippos, and baboons. The evergreen forest provides amazing views and is the outgrowth of an underground waterflow that provides nourishment throughout the year.

You will be doing a full-day game drive inside Lake Manyara National Park and you will be served lunch inside the park. Later in the evening, you will exit the park and head to Fig Tree Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 10: Hadzabe Bushman Experience

Depart the lodge for a hunt with the Hadzabe. Hadzabe is East Africa’s last remaining true hunter-gatherers. As one of Africa’s oldest tribes, you will have a chance to experience a genuine and authentic cultural encounter with these tribes and spend some time with them, learning their various traditions and skills. They are fascinating tribes whose ancient cultures still exist in our modern times. In the evening, drive to Fig Tree Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 11 - 12: Mto wa Mbu to Home of Flamingos

After an early breakfast, you will meet our professional tour guide/driver in Arusha town, ready to start your 2-day adventure. It takes 3 hours to drive from Arusha to the famous alkali Lake Natron. You will pass on a rough road through scenic landscapes to Oldonyo Lengai Mountain.

This lake is the world's only breeding ground for more than 1.5 million lesser flamingos. You will watch the flamingos, learn about the surrounding environment, hot springs, sundowners, waterfalls, and many more activities. In the evening, head to your accommodation for dinner and overnight.

LAKE NATRON
Day 12: Lake Natron and Waterfalls

After breakfast, you will have another chance to see more of Lake Natron. In the morning, visit Lake Natron to see a flock of flamingos and other species of waterbirds. Swim to the thundering Munge Waterfalls, then we will drive back to your lodge for relaxation and prepare for your midnight trek.

Day 13: Climbing Mountain of God

Just after midnight, at 1.00 am, we drive to the starting point to start the climb of Mount Oldoinyo Lengai. It is the only volcanic active mountain in Tanzania, also called "Mountain of God" in the Maasai language. We trek 4 hours to the summit and have a view of Mount Kilimanjaro, Mount Meru and the Ngorongoro Crater. The next morning, we descend for breakfast and lunch. We will then drive back to Arusha for dinner and overnight.

Day 14: Scenic Tour

After an early breakfast, you will depart from the hotel and head toward Materuni Waterfalls. It is a 2-hour drive to Materuni village, located at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro. You will learn about their traditions and customs, as well as how the local Chagga people grow and process the coffee for substance use. You will also visit a coffee farm, pick coffee and make your own strong coffee locally.

After enjoying your picnic lunch, hike for 30 minutes to Materuni Waterfalls which are about 80m higher, to explore nature and to go for a swim. Later, you will head to Secret Garden Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Zanzibar Stone Town (Zanzibar)
Day 15: Arrival at Zanzibar Airport to Stone town

Today, you will be taken to Kilimanjaro Airport very early in the morning on your way to Zanzibar. On your arrival, you will meet your guide and start a city tour exploring the buildings, local markets and get to know the full history of this archipelago.

You’ll explore the Old Slave Market and get a full history. You will also visit the Old Fort, Fred Mercury house, the first East African building to have an elevator, and explore the different houses build in different styles in Stone Town such as the house of slave master Tip Tip, and Princess Salme house.

At 1:00 pm, we have lunch at the picnic site or any good restaurant in the city. After lunch, we continue to the breathtaking Prison Island. It’s a very quiet place to visit and is filled with giant tortoises believed to be older than 100 years. You’ll get a fully colonial history of how prisons were ruined. In the late evening, you’ll be dropped off at your hotel.

Day 16 - 18: Safari Blue

After a 7 am breakfast at the lodge, you'll be picked up at 8 am by our guide who will brief you about the tour. Safari Blue is among the classic watersport adventures in Zanzibar.

This trip involves sailing with a boat to different islands like Fumba, Menai, etc. On this tour, you’ll be offered bites and soft drinks. The tours highly depend on sea weather, so they may start even earlier. It’s a 6-hour excursion. Our guide will take you to a nice beach (Nungwi/Kendwa) for sailing. Upon arrival, you’ll be offered all safety gears and snorkeling gears, then board the boat. The captain will stop at 2 potential points where you can go snorkeling and spot a beautiful coral reef with a lot of fish species and wonderful mangroves.

We will have lunch at 1 - 2 pm at the picnic site. Afterward, our guide may offer you another trip where you can sand bath and swim till late evening. Later, you will be taken back to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 17: Snorkeling at Michamvi

After breakfast, you’ll be picked up and head to Spice Island. On the spice tour, you’ll be taken to an organic farm where spices are planted, cultivated, harvested, packed, and processed throughout the year. Zanzibar is a small island, but one of the best spice producers. Spices and herbs such as clove, lemongrass, turmeric, vanilla, coconut, papaya, black pepper, jack fruit, chilly, cardamom, nutmeg, cinnamon, and many others are all found in Zanzibar.

After lunch, you’ll have a market trip and a short window period for shopping. See how these fresh spices from the farm have been packed and placed where people from different parts, either within or outside the island, go and buy spices and herbs. We hope that you take some back to your home country.

After the spice tour, you’ll be taken to Kendwa Beach for swimming and sand-bath. In the late evening, you’ll be dropped off at your hotel.

Day 18: Relaxing at the Beach

Today, you will just be relaxing at the beautiful white, sandy beaches in Zanzibar. Enjoy the sunrise and late afternoon sunset while exploring and eating the delicious seafood. You can also play beach soccer and volleyball, depending on your preference.
