3 Days / 2 Nights Gombe National Park Chimpanzee Safari – Lake Tanganyika Adventure

Your Gombe Chimpanzee Safari begins in Kigoma with a private boat journey across Lake Tanganyika to Gombe National Park. After arrival, you will meet your park guide and begin your first Gombe Chimpanzee Trekking experience.

After a short briefing, board your private boat and cruise across the spectacular waters of Lake Tanganyika toward Gombe National Park. The journey takes approximately 1–1.5 hours, depending on lake conditions, and provides beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and shoreline.

Upon arrival at Gombe, complete the park formalities and check in at your accommodation. After settling in, meet your park guide and begin your first chimpanzee trekking experience.

Walk through Gombe's lush forest as your ranger helps you locate chimpanzee communities. Along the way, you may also encounter different species of monkeys, colorful birds, butterflies, and other forest wildlife.

After trekking, continue with a forest hike toward Kakombe Waterfalls or Mkenke Waterfalls, depending on trail conditions and time available.

Return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation. In the afternoon, enjoy some free time for swimming in Lake Tanganyika or relaxing along the lakeshore.

Later, visit Jane Goodall's former house and learn more about the history of chimpanzee research and conservation in Gombe. If time and trail conditions permit, you can also hike toward Jane Goodall's Peak for panoramic views of the forest and Lake Tanganyika.

Finish your day by watching the sunset over the lake before enjoying dinner and a peaceful campfire beside the water

After breakfast, continue your Gombe Chimpanzee Safari with a second chimpanzee trekking experience. Your park ranger will guide you through the forest while you search for wild chimpanzees.

This Tanzania Chimpanzee Safari also provides opportunities to enjoy the natural beauty of Gombe's forest environment.

With your experienced park guide and ranger, follow forest trails in search of chimpanzees. Your guide will explain their behavior, social structures, feeding habits, and the conservation efforts protecting Gombe's wildlife.

Chimpanzee sightings are never guaranteed because they are wild animals, but trekking through their natural habitat is an unforgettable experience in itself.

After the trek, return to the accommodation and enjoy some free time. You may choose to relax by the lake or take a refreshing swim in Lake Tanganyika, one of Africa's Great Lakes.

Enjoy an early lunch before checking out and boarding your private boat back to Kigoma.

The boat journey offers another opportunity to appreciate the dramatic scenery surrounding Lake Tanganyika. Upon arrival in Kigoma, transfer to your hotel and spend the evening relaxing after your Gombe adventure.

After breakfast in Kigoma, your Gombe Safari comes to an end with a transfer to Kigoma Airport for your onward journey.
