Safari Frequently Asked Questions

Technically yes, but it is the riskiest itinerary on the mountain. Because there is no extra acclimatization day, the success rate is roughly 50%–60%. Many climbers fail due to altitude sickness (AMS) before reaching the summit.

The Marangu Route is considered the “easiest” route because it has a gradual ascent, gentle slopes, and a well-defined trail, making it more accessible for climbers. However, it is important to note that the final summit night from Kibo Hut (4,700 m) to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m) remains extremely challenging, with steep terrain and high altitude, similar to other routes.

Yes Unlike the Rongai route (which traverses the mountain), Marangu goes up and down the same path. This means you will see the same scenery twice and meet many climbers coming the opposite way.
